Why contractors go looking for a Jobber alternative
Jobber is a good field service platform. The reasons to look elsewhere usually come down to price and fit: the plan with the features you want costs more than you expected, or the tool is built around a kind of business you don’t run.
Here’s what Jobber’s pricing page shows as of October 2026, for one user. (Its Plus plan for teams starts at $399 a month on annual billing.)

Every plan lets you add users at $29 a month each. Jobber also offers monthly billing with a 1-year commitment: Core $39, Connect $119, Grow $169. Card payments through Jobber cost 2.9% + 30¢ and bank (ACH) payments cost 1%. There’s a 14-day free trial of Grow with no credit card. Three things from that table push contractors to shop around:
- Automated quote follow-up starts at Connect. Core is cheap at $29 a month, but it doesn’t chase your quotes. To get that, you’re at $99 to $139 a month.
- Offering options on a quote starts at Grow. Optional line items, the way to let a client pick upgrades, are a Grow feature at $149 to $199 a month.
- Users add up. A 3-person crew on Connect with annual billing is $99 + $58 = $157 a month by adding users, or $149 on Jobber’s 5-user Connect bundle. Either way, the annual and 1-year plans lock you in for the year.
None of that makes Jobber a bad deal. If you dispatch techs every day, those prices buy a lot. But if your problem is the estimates themselves, you may be paying for a scheduling platform to get a follow-up feature.

Housecall Pro: the closest swap for Jobber
If you like how Jobber works and just want to compare a competitor, Housecall Pro is the most direct match. It’s the same kind of tool: scheduling, dispatching, quotes, invoices and payments in one place.
As of October 2026, its pricing page lists:
- Basic: $59 a month billed annually or $79 month to month, 1 user included. Online booking, scheduling and dispatching, quotes and proposals, invoices and payments, review management.
- Essentials: $149 a month annually or $189 monthly, 5 users included. Adds flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, photo reports and employee GPS tracking.
- MAX: $299 a month annually or $329 monthly, 8 users included and $35 a month for each user after that. Adds a sales proposal tool, recurring service plans and route optimization.
The page also shows first-month intro prices ($26 for one month on Basic and Essentials, $99 a month for 3 months on MAX). Budget on the regular price. According to the same page, card processing runs “as low as 2.59%,” with a 1% fee on bank payments.
Headcount is where the two can differ the most. Housecall Pro’s Essentials includes 5 users for $149 a month on annual billing. Jobber shows team bundles when you pick a team size, or you can add users at $29 a month each. If you’re comparing the two for a crew, price both at your real headcount.

Joist: the budget pick for estimates and invoices
Joist is a different animal. It’s an estimates, invoices and payments app, and its plan cards don’t list dispatching. As of October 2026, its plans are:
- Basics: $10 a month, or $8.34 a month billed annually, up to 5 documents a month.
- Pro: $17 a month, unlimited documents and clients, your logo, line items and photos, client activity tracking.
- Elite: $32 a month, adds change orders, license and insurance on documents, and business reports.
- Run: $100 a month list price, with a 30% introductory discount on the card as of this check, adds job organization and scheduling.
Annual billing on every plan includes 2 months free. The trial is 14 days with no credit card.
If you’re a solo contractor and you build your estimates yourself, line by line, Joist is hard to beat on price. Joist lists AI tools for creating estimates on every plan, and line items start on Pro. Its plan cards don’t list automated quote follow-up.
ServiceTitan: priced per technician, through sales
ServiceTitan doesn’t publish prices. According to its pricing page, pricing is per technician, and every plan (Starter, Essentials, The Works) ends in “Request Pricing.” Mobile estimates are listed starting at the Essentials package.
ServiceTitan lists HVAC, plumbing and electrical among the trades it serves, and prices per technician. Its page says that pricing is designed to fit a business “at any size,” but you won’t see a number until you talk to sales. Where Jobber is the better pick
- You run crews and visits every day. Booking, scheduling and crew schedules are what Jobber is built around. EstimationPro is not a dispatch or crew-routing platform.
- Your quotes are standard. If you sell the same handful of services at set prices, a saved template in Jobber is already fast. AI doesn’t buy you much there.
- You want one login for everything. Jobber covers booking, quoting, invoicing and payments in one place, and Connect adds QuickBooks Online sync.
Where EstimationPro is the better pick
- Every job is custom. Remodels, decks, roofing, painting, concrete. Every bid starts from a walkthrough, not a price list. That’s where building the estimate from photos and a voice note saves the most time. Contractors save 2+ hours per estimate.
- You lose jobs you never followed up on. I’m a remodeler. My problem was never dispatching trucks. It was spending evenings on estimates, then getting busy on a job site and forgetting to chase them. A lot of jobs are won on the second or third follow-up, not the first estimate. Starter’s 10 estimates a month covers 8 with room to spare. Push past 10 a month and you’re on Pro at $149 a month, or $1,490 a year.
This isn’t apples to apples, and I won’t pretend it is. Jobber Connect also includes invoices, scheduling, client reminders, checklists, time tracking and QuickBooks Online sync. EstimationPro Starter doesn’t include invoices; those are on Pro. If you need invoicing too, the honest comparison is Jobber Connect ($1,188 to $1,668) against EstimationPro Pro ($1,490 to $1,788). Pick based on which half of the job eats more of your week: the estimating or the operations.
Whatever you pick, software is overhead. Run the yearly number through the contractor overhead calculator and make sure your markup still covers it.
Can you run both?
Yes. You can keep Jobber for scheduling and invoicing and build your project estimates somewhere else. The catch is follow-up. EstimationPro’s automatic follow-up only runs on estimates sent from EstimationPro. If you build the estimate in one tool and send it from another, the reminders don’t follow it. Decide which tool sends the quote, and let that one do the chasing.
How to switch without losing a month
- Write down the three things you actually use. Not the feature list. The three things you’d miss on Monday morning.

- Check the commitment before you pay. Jobber’s annual plan is prepaid and non-refundable if you cancel mid-year, and the 1-year monthly plan bills until the 12 months are up. EstimationPro is cancel anytime, no contract.
- Time your follow-ups. Whatever you land on, check that a quote you send on Monday gets chased without you touching it.
I wouldn’t prepay a year of any software until I’d run a month of real jobs through it.
